Working for our client, The Fragrance Group, the Grade II listed former Liverpool Council Offices were sensitively transformed into a luxurious MGallery hotel, with architectural conversion led by Faulkner Chester Hall Architects.

Koncept ID were responsible for the interior design throughout the hotel, delivering 189 guestrooms, including 11 suites, alongside a comprehensive range of guest amenities. We also developed the complete brand identity, including branding, logo design, signage and stationery, and worked closely with the client team on the food and beverage concepts and naming to ensure a cohesive and memorable guest experience.

Dining is a key part of the hotel’s identity, with Seaforth Restaurant offering refined British brasserie dishes inspired by land and sea, Palm Court Bar specialising in crafted cocktails beneath the striking central atrium, and the Botanic Tearoom providing an elegant destination for afternoon tea in Liverpool.

With the exception of the newly constructed pool and spa block, all areas were delivered under strict listed building constraints, allowing the design to respond sensitively to the building’s historic fabric. A centrally positioned bar was conceived as a key focal point aligned with the main reception sightline, while bespoke joinery throughout was designed to feel intrinsic to the original architecture.

Thermae Spa completes the offering, recognised with a five bubble rating from The Good Spa Guide and awarded Europe’s Best City Spa at the World Luxury Hotel Awards 2025, creating a tranquil urban retreat at the heart of the city.
